On April 30, 2023, a national referendum was held in the Republic of Uzbekistan to adopt new amendments to the Constitution. 90.21% of voters voted in favor of the new version of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Based on the new amendments, more than 65 percent of the text of the current Constitution has been changed, the number of its articles has increased from 128 to 155, and norms from 275 to 434. It is worth noting that the principle of statehood of the Republic of Uzbekistan — «independent, democratic, law-based, secular and social» is established in the Constitution.
